Jefferson Township Day is an all day event beginning at 9:30 A.M. with the Mayors Breakfast at the Jefferson Township Museum and ending with a fireworks display at 9:45 in the evening. Jefferson Day 2003 will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2003. (In case of inclement weather it will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2003.) The theme for Jefferson Day 2003 is "The Spirit of America". The Jefferson Arts Committee will be recognizing individuals, businesses, and organizations in the community who exemplify their involvement in community affairs or with members of the community. Certificates of recognition will be presented at a ceremony on the main stage at 7:30 p.m. Recipients are nominated by the community at large and reviewed by a special committee. These awards are now an annual tradition in Jefferson Township. Activities of the Jefferson Arts Committee are excluded from these awards. |
New Security Measures For
Jefferson Township Day 2003
Due to the tragic events of September 11th 2001, increased security measures will be in effect for Jefferson Township Day 2003. In order ot ensure the safety of all visitors to Jefferson Township Day, the following security measures will be strictly enforced by the Jefferson Township Police Department throughout the day and evening.
Large coolers will NOT be allowed on any field.
Small coolers will be allowed to be brought in to all fields but may be searched by Jefferson Township Police Officers and/or Jefferson Arts Committee personnel. All backpacks will be banned from the fields. Absolutely no alcoholic beverages, drugs, dogs or any other type of animal (including leashed pets of any kind), bicycles or fireworks permitted on the school grounds and fields at any time during the Jefferson Township Day Celebration. |
In order to ensure that everyone will be safe and is adherhing to all safety measures, Jefferson Township Police Officers will be stationed at every entrance gate beginning at 8:00 AM until the event officially closes for the evening.

The Jefferson Arts Committee
It is recommended that the public park in the Middle School parking lot and up Weldon Road towards the old Snow Bowl area and Mahlon Dickerson Reservation if they plan to exit towards Rt. 15/Lake Hopatcong. Park in the High School parking lot down towards the Municipal Building and Dover Milton Road if you plan to exit towards Rt. 23/Milton. Parking will also be available on Morris County Park Commission Property at the Snow Bowl site on Weldon Road adjacent to the Jefferson Township Middle School.
It is suggested to bring a lawn chair or blanket for your comfort |
