Jefferson Community Band

The Jefferson Township Community Band was formed in 1992 under the direction of Peter Tummillo, then Director of the Jefferson Township High School instrumental and marching bands,  and operates under the umbrella of the Jefferson Arts Committee.

The philosophy behind the formation of the Community Band is to provide an avenue of expression to the instrumentalists of the community and an opportunity for them to continue playing with a group after formal education has been completed. Membership is open to all regardless of age and level of musicianship.   The music encompasses the classics, Broadway musicals, standard marches, and patriotic salutes; and the Band usually performs at every Jefferson Township Day and Christmas in the Village event.  In 2007, they will be featured during one of the Jefferson Township Gazebo Committee’s upcoming  summer concert series as well as performing as the opening act for the Jefferson Arts Committee’s April 28th concert in the Jefferson Township High School auditorium featuring the very entertaining group known as Sunset Soundz.

Rehearsals are usually conducted in the Jefferson Township High School Music Room on Monday evenings from 7:30 to 9 P.M.  Annual dues of $25 per person, $40 per couple, or $10 per student apply to help cover the Director’s salary and the high cost of purchasing copyrighted music.
