Model Trains
Tri-State G -Scale Mountaineers' Jim DeYoung will oversee three detailed sets of G-Scale trains on an interesting layout.

Decorated Box Parade
The Knights of Columbus Joseph F. Lamb Council #5510 Oak Ridge will judge this contest. No pre-registration or fee. Decorate and wear a box! Trophies will be awarded after the parade for “Most Original,” “Funniest,” and “Best Appearing,” and medals will be given to all participants. Trophies donated by the Old Pine Shop.

Place: Assemble in the Jefferson Township Muncipal Building driveway on Weldon Rd.

Jefferson Township Day 2006 Parade
It’s an old-fashioned township parade! Be sure to get a good viewing spot along Weldon Road.

Reviewing Stand and Introductions
Master of Ceremonies Carol Punturieri will introduce special guests and parade participants as they pass by.

Master of Ceremonies ??? will preside, and ??? will lead the Pledge of Allegiance while ??? will sing the National Anthem accompanied by the Golden Falcons Marching Band.

Jinx the Magical Clown
Enjoy the antics of this clown who will surely entertain children of all ages.

Inflatable Activities
Have a great time on the Giant Slide, the Balloon Typhoon, Jr. Challenge Obstacle Course, Moonwalk, Pedestal Joust, and Kiddiepillar Maze activities from Moonwalk Entertainment. Admission charge applicable.

The St. Barnabas Burn Foundation
The Fire Safety House replicates a home environment simulating common hazards to be identified and corrected by those touring the house. A simulated non-toxic smoke machine simulates fire conditions that must be escaped.

Harmony in Motion
Be prepared to “feel the love”, joy, and harmony listening to this 25-member women’s a cappella barbershop style chorus who just love to sing. Barbershop harmony is unaccompanied four-part harmony, and this chorus is a Sussex County chapter of Harmony, Inc.

Trackless Train
Real train whistle, clanging bell, and headlight contribute to an enjoyable ride around the field. Admission charge applicaple. All ages welcome.

Fishing Contest
Sponsored by The Fred S. Burroughs North Jersey Chapter of Trout Unlimited for children up to and including 15 years of age. Bring your own tackle and bait! No pre-registration or fee, Catch-and-Release encouraged. Three grand prizes awarded as well as prizes per age group. NJ Division of Fish, Game, and Wildlife will make a presentation and stock the pond with pan fish from the Hackettstown Hatchery.

Time:  1:00 to 3:00 p.m. session - children up to 15 years old.
       
Place: Morris County Pond - Weldon Road (across from the high school).
       Fish stocked by N.J. Division of Fish, Game & Wildlife.

Dunk Tank
For a nominal fee, throw the ball to drop a familiar person into the cold waters of the Dunk Tank. Sponsored by the Jefferson Ice Hockey League.

Merriloons
Children of all ages will be entertained with her face painting, hand painting, and balloon-making talents.

Jefferson Community Players
Talented members of the local community theater group will walk among the crowd performing improvisational theater with audience participation. You could be an actor in their presentation!

Christine Dour as Shellia O’Keefe and Lynda Kolvik as Marie Saluzzo will perform a one-act comedy play “Family Names” directed by Jean Simonson.

Tim Booz Wood Carving
Tim Booz comes from a family of chainsaw wood artists, and he will carve an 18” bear out of a block of wood. His craft is paying for his college education, and he also does custom work! The Jefferson Arts Committee will then raffle off the finished piece at 9:30 PM. Tickets available at the Jefferson Arts Committee information booth all day and into the early evening on the 22nd at $2 each or 3 for $5. Winner need not be present.

Sparky the Fire Dog
Sparky, accompanied by Jefferson Township Fire Official Vinnie Corsaro teaches fire safetyand interacts with the children for a fun yet educational experience.

Thunder Hill
This high-energy top 40 and classic country band hails from northern New Jersey. Huey Branson – lead and backing vocals; Rose DeSopo – rhythm guitar, lead and backing vocals; Mike “Doc” Holliday - guitar, lead and backing vocals; Pete Kaspary - percussion; and Cris Jones - Pedal steel.

Children's Games of Skill
Sponsored by the Jefferson Arts Committee. No pre-registration - tickets available for purchase at 25 cents per game. A dozen challenging games for pre-schoolers and children up to 6th grade some of which are new and some refurbished thanks to Girl Scout Gold Award candidate Stephanie Zeman from Jefferson North Troop 155.

Road Bowling Tournament
Six pre-registered teams will face off in a unique and challenging "bowling" match on a natural uphill and downhill alley.

Giant Games
Sponsored by the Jefferson Township Recreation Advisory Board and by The Jefferson Township Recreation Department. No pre-registration. Play checkers on a 10’ x 10’ giant checkerboard or try your skill at a 4-foot high vertical “connect-four” game. $1 pp to play either game with all proceeds to the Camp Jefferson Summer Day Camp scholarship fund.

The Son of God Goes Forth to War
This local young adult band plays harmonies and melodies in a traditional rock style featuring Dan Tewes, Justin Dopiriak and Kerwyn Velasco. The name of the band is based on a hymn that they have covered and feel it captures their throwback style well.

This local young adult band combines elements of punk, metal, hardcore, and classical for a unique and energetic sound featuring Steve Barna-drums, Paul Chiesa-vocals, Pat More-bass, Jeff Campisi-guitar, Mike Keys-keyboard, and Brian Plunkett-guitar.

This young adult band play mostly rock and funk but fuse it with many other different styles of music for everyone to enjoy. Joel Headley on drums, Chase Kruppo on Keyboards, Gregg Hoekstra on Bass, Dan Kupetz on Congas, and Sean House on guitar.

Juke Box Memories
This Dover, NJ band has been playing 50’s-60’s rites from the year of the “Jukebox” for 13 years with Pete Loverde – lead singer; Tom LeClair – bass; Dominic Cocuzza – drums; Joe Santillo – guitar; Keith Theil – bass; Dodge – sax. They’ve been part of the Lead East event in Parsippany.

These talented musicians will provide a treat for lovers of brass instruments featuring Richard Barrieres on trumpet, Pete Tummillo on trumpet, Dan Molendyke on horn, Richard Douris on trombone, and Bill Briggs on tuba.

The Saved
Lynda McLennan – guitar/vocals, Craig McLennan – guitar/vocals, Frank Melchoni - guitar, Tammy Huelsenbeck – bass, Paul Huelsenbeck - drums, and Lenore Coyle – vocals/percussion perform contemporary Christian Rock and mainstream music. They regularly play during services at the United Methodist Church of Lake Hopatcong.

Community Spirit Awards
The Jefferson Arts Committee will once again be recognizing individuals, businesses, and/or organizations in the community who exemplify their involvement in community affairs and/or their interaction with members of the community. Recipients were nominated by the community-at-large and reviewed by a special committee. Activities of the Jefferson Arts Committee are excluded from these awards.

Jefferson Township Mayor Russ Felter will continue the tradition of presenting the Jack Kelly Citizens of the Year Award to a deserving male and female resident who exhibit dedication, leadership, and outstanding service to the community and the citizens of Jefferson Township.
